The pinboard application was designed to emphasise the flexibility of the TMS. Due to the non-transactional nature of this application it only uses the mediation module, which in turn demonstrates the adaptability and flexibility of interfacing with TMS modules.
The question arises as to how such an application would be any different from a similar low cost ‘off the shelf’ product.
The answer is that an application like the Pin Board could easily be packaged with a larger application developed by Clearfield. Rather than investigating alternative sources for simple applications, these could be developed in parallel by Clearfield staff, resulting in less time wasted, and a superior solution.
Also, many other applications could be based on the similar concepts and functionality ranging from annual leave management, to a real time inter-office chat system etc.
