The proposed solution to the current limitations is the development of a new web application. The application will exhibit the following characteristics: Information capture - The system will capture and track project requirements, notes, issues and information on software bugs, release notes etc throughout the SDLC. Configurable - The capture and update of all business rules which apply to each companyˇ¦s project workflows. E.g. define fields to collect information and rules for escalation of issues. Database storage - Issues will be kept in a centralized database, enhancing access and providing the capability to track issue history. Notification - Any status changes of issues will trigger an event such as notifying the client and internal project team via email, or generating a report. Reporting - The system will generate reports, such as a list of outstanding issues, from a pre-defined set. Each report will have some variables the end-user can report by, e.g. date range, issue category, issue status. Accessible off-site - The system will have a multi-tier web based architecture, and will be hosted on one of Augenˇ¦s application servers. This will allow users to access the application via the Internet and company Intranet. Secure - There will be a security mechanism to authenticate users for their rights of access to the system. It will be password-based and information transferred will be encrypted. Personalization - Users will be able to customize the interface according to their project involvement and preference settings. Technology - The system will be based on the .NET platform and will integrate to Sharepoint Portal Server. |
