This course gives students an understanding of the hardware and firmware found in modern computer systems, and of the relationships between hardware, firmware, and software.

This course contains the following topics: The functioning and organization of modern computer systems. Architecture of computers and computer systems. Processor organization and implementation. Instruction formats, microprogramming, input/output systems, virtual memory and hierarchical memory systems.
