Project Overview

Univeral Industry Analysis System

The proposed project is to develop an industry analysis web site that can collect industry information, analyse key performance indicators, prepare online and paper based reports for sale on a subscription fee basis, or a one-off charge be credit card.

The aim for the Universal Industry Analysis System is to provide a tool for users to analyse their business with other similar companies in the industry. It gives the user an idea of where they stand in a competitive market place by comparing their set of KPIs to model KPIs by benchmarking or comparison to other KPIs values from other companies. The generated Analysis report can provide the user with valuable information for improving their business.

The system is composed of these features:

  • The web site will be used internationally meaning that not only will it work flawlessly in New Zealand but also in other countries such as United States, United Kingdom, and Australia etc…
  • The system will work across industries. Initially, we will be working with the Marina Management System (MMS) database to build the system. In the end the system can also work in other industries such as construction or manufacturing.
  • The system will collect business information from the users and populate the central database repository where these data will be stored and used for analysis purposes.
  • The system will be able to generate analysis reports based on KPIs values and presented to the user when requested.

The proposed system is to create a functional web site that can:

  • Allow manual entry of key industry statistics i.e. KPI (Key Performance Indicators)
  • Automatically extract data from the MMS (Marina Management System) database.
  • Upload key industry statistics from other system by csv files.
  • Analyze the data according to the business analysis model provided. (benchmarking)
  • Analyze the data according to other similar companies in the same industry.
  • Generate online analysis reports, dynamic charts and graphs and word based reports.
  • Provide access to the analysis in a secure manner for subscriptions users, point redemption users and one time payment users.
  • Operate with minimum of manual inputs; at the same time provide flexibility to the clients.
  • If there is enough time, able to provide a GIS interface to the data analysis results.
