What to do if you miss a test or exam

In the past students have missed out on a whole semester of study because they just went away, or missed an examination because they did not report problems until they received the grade. If there is a problem that will affect your study you should inform someone as soon as possible.

  1. If you must miss a test or exam for family emergencies etc, PLEASE talk to your lecturer or class supervisor, or somehow get a message to the department before the event.
  2. For problems affecting assignments or tests, see your lecturer. Again it must be as soon as reasonably possible.
  3. For illness during exams (or other problems that affect exam performance) you MUST contact the Examinations Office within ONE WEEK of the last affected examination to apply for an aegrotat pass (for illness) or compassionate pass (other problems). THE ONE WEEK LIMIT IS STRICTLY ENFORCED.
  4. Please refer to page 65-66 of the Computer Science 2007 Handbook.
  5. Please read the examinations handbook that you will  receive and double-check (triple-check?) the examination timetable. Some of this information is important.
  6. Sit your examination or test if at all possible, even if you do nothing much more than hand in a blank script.
