Project In Information Technology

BTECH 451

The Seminars

The introductory seminar will be of 5 minutes duration. In the introductory seminar you are expected to outline your project goals, justify the rationale for the project, and describe what you hope to gain from doing the project.

The mid-year and final seminars will be of 15 and 20 minutes durations respectively. There will be a 5 minutes question time for each of the seminars.

The mid-year seminar will be in the last teaching week of the first semester, while the final seminar will be in the last teaching week of the second semester.

If you have done a programming-based project, you must consider giving a demo during your mid-year and final project seminars. Talk to your academic supervisor about it.

The presentation should clearly outline your project, the problem solved, and the approaches you took in solving the problem. You must discuss the results of the project, and outline what you have gained through the project.

The Slides

Prepare slides that are easy to read from a distance. Do not cram a lot of material in a single slide. Break up your presentation into key points you wish to convey to the audience and find the most suitable means to illustrate this in your slides. For example, pictures and graphs appeal to the audience better than text and tables.

Ensure that there are no spelling or grammatical errors in the slides. These distract the audience.

Do a dry run at home to time your presentation. If you run overtime, your presentation may be cut short by the moderator.
