I have a postdoctoral position available for (approximately) March 2005-March 2007. Candidates should contact me directly by email, enclosing a full CV. The project is entitled "Algorithm Engineering" and is concerned with the development of analytic and computer algebra tools for dealing with multivariate generating functions, analysis of algorithms being a principal area of application. In addition to salary, some funding is available for moving expenses.

Information on University of Auckland: The University of Auckland is a public university with about 25 000 students situated in Auckland, New Zealand's largest city. In 2002, more than 1 000 international students from 60 different countries chose to study at Auckland.
The (NZ government) Performance-Based Research Fund review, released in 2004 by the Tertiary Education Commission, concluded that: "On virtually any measure, The University of Auckland is the country's leading research university."
The University is the only New Zealand university invited to join Universitas 21 and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities. These organizations have members including University of Edinburgh, University of California-Berkeley, University of Melbourne, University of British Columbia, National University of Singapore, University of Chile.

Information on Auckland: The Auckland urban area has a population of about 1 million, making it New Zealand's largest. It is located on an isthmus between the Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean, at latitude about 37 degrees South, and has a mild subtropical climate. In winter the minimum temperature is almost never below 0 Celsius, and 12 Celsius is a typical daily maximum. In summer the maximum is almost never above 30 Celsius, and 22-24 Celsius is more normal.

Information on New Zealand: New Zealand is a parliamentary democracy with a proportional electoral system similar to that used in Germany. It is located in the South Pacific Ocean, about 2200 km from Australia, which is its nearest large neighbour. Its population is about 4 million and its area is similar to that of Great Britain, Japan or Colorado. The official languages are English and Maori (the native tongue of the first settlers of NZ, whose descendants make up about 15% of the population). Most of the population is descended from immigrants from Europe (primarily Great Britain and Ireland), Asia, and the Pacific Islands.
