What is JViews?

JViews is a framework for building multi-view, multi-user design environments - we have used it mainly for building novel software tools. JViews is a Java framework for constructing multi-view environments and includes facilities for:

Graphical editing tool construction ("BuildByWire")
Model/View abstractions ("JViews")
Multi-user and persistency support (part of JViews - implemented via plug-in components)
A JViews-implemented specification and code generation tool ("JComposer")
A run-time component visualisation tool ("JVisualise")
A range of plug-in components for various support features (collaborative editing, work co-ordination, communication, distribution, adaptive user interfaces, adaptive architectures etc)

We have build many systems with JViews. These include:

JComposer and JVisualise tools themselves
Serendipity-II process management environment
DPTool design patterns tool management environment
Various aspect-oriented software component engineering tools
SoftArch software architecture modelling tool
SoftArch/MTE performance management tool

Pounamu ("JViews-II")

We are currently developing a new, much more powerful and flexible system - Pounamu (JViews-II, if you like). This is in the process of being commercialised. Watch this space!!

MViews

JViews genesis was the "Mviews" environment. This was an object Prolog-based framework with associated tools. We built some early, innovative visual language environments like SPE, Serendipity, ViTaBaL and Cerno-II with it.
