Computing History Displays: First Floor

Click the thumbnail to see the original image.

Because of the way our building was designed, the first floor lobby has more space than the others. We were able to store and display here the first computer at The University of Auckland, an IBM 1620, as part of the initial "decoration" of the new building.

The first floor is also very busy because it provides entry to the 3rd level of computer laboratories. There is thus not much room for further displays but we have managed to include a small display on punched-card data processing.
