The Myra Cohen Department of Computer Science

Entry requirements

Students are not required to have studied any sort of computing at high school to be able to major in Computer Science at The University of Auckland.

It is good preparation for prospective computer science students to study level 3 NCEA in Mathematics or equivalent. Physics can also be useful.

If you have an NCEA rank score of ≥165 or a CIE rank score of ≥170 you are certain to be admitted to the Bachelor of Science programme. If your score is less, then entry is subject to the number of places available. Any student that has gained admission to the BSc is able to take the major in Computer Science. There are no limits of the number of students permitted to enrol in Computer Science courses.

Information on how university entrance criteria are assessed can be found in the Science Undergraduate Prospectus.
