Tutorial Labs: COMPSCI 111/111G Semester 2, 2020


  • Each week you will have a laboratory (starting in Week 2).
  • Labs are worth 30% of your final mark
  • Please note that labs start in the second week of the semester.
  • City Campus Lab Location: First Floor Teaching Laboratory - Room 303S-175 on the first floor of the Computer Science Extension to the Maths & Physics Building (Building 303S).
  • Video clip showing how to get to the CompSci111 Lab (FTL).
  • Labs are a compulsory part of the course (worth 30% of your final grade)
  • Please bring a USB flash drive, your Student ID card and a pen with you each week.
  • Lab assignments must be submitted to Canvas no later than 10am on Monday of the following week
  • If you have any problems or queries regarding the labs, please contact the lab supervisor, Ann Cameron.
Lab Session Times

Please attend the lab session that you have enrolled into. You can also post questions to Piazza if you need help outside of the lab times or email the lab supervisor, Ann Cameron. All labs are held in 303S-175 (First Floor Teaching Lab). Here are the lab session times:

  • Monday 10am - 1pm
  • Monday 1pm - 4pm
  • Tuesday 10am - 1pm
  • Wednesday 10am - 1pm
  • Thursday 10am - 1pm
Lab Assignments

All files that are needed for the lab can be found on Canvas by selecting Assignments then the appropriate lab.

If you need any help with your lab please come into the CompSci111 lab during the lab times above where you can get help from a CompSci111/111G tutor. You can also use Piazza to ask questions. Also, you can email the lab supervisor Ann Cameron if you want to receive help via a Zoom meeting.

  • Lab 03 - Word Processing and RefWorks (17th - August - 21st August)
    • Due: 10am on Monday 24th August
  • Lab 04 - Spreadsheets (24th August - 28th August)
    • Due: 10am on Monday 31st August
  • Lab 05 - LaTeX - Part 1 (21st September - 25th September
    • Due: 10am on Monday 28th September
  • Lab 06 - LaTeX - Part 2 (28th September - 2nd October)
    • Due: 10am on Monday 5th October
  • Lab 07 - Programming in Python (5th October - 9th October)
    • Due: 10am on Monday 12th October
  • Lab 08 - Web Design - HTML5 (12th October - 16th October)
    • Due: 10am on Monday 19th October
  • Lab 09 - Web Design - HTML5 and CSS (19th October - 23rd October)
    • Due: 10am on Monday 26th October
