The Information Technology Services (ITS) division provides high quality central ICT services to the University of Auckland. The company has over 400 staff and is located on Symonds street close to the University. My work at Central IT was with a partnership between two teams; Operational Security (in IT Services) and Enterprise Architecture (in IT Strategy, Policy, and Planning). Jeff Kennedy manages the Enterprise Architecture Team. They create some of the high level solution designs that are used by the university. These include the exam script request services, online evaluation forms and many others. Hinne Hettema heads the Operational Security team that oversees Internet security for the entire university. They monitor and counter threats and hacker attacks on our university network. They also assess the architecture teams high level designs for potential security vulnerabilities and give feedback on potential threats and how they might mitigate them.
