Project
The current system that the Real Estate Institution of New Zealand (REINZ) uses
to collect process and publish data on property listings and statistics is inefficient.
The majority of the processes are manually done i.e. real estate agents have to fill out
forms and post them to the institute. Therefore it is slow, prone to error thus affecting
the accuracy and timeliness of information produced.
Realising the need to improve the current system, Clearfield
Knowledge Solutions (CKS) have proposed the Property Listings
and Statistics (PLS) system that will improve the efficiency
greatly. This system will not be implemented within REINZ but
the services will potentially be provided by CKS to the Real
Estate industry vertical.
The PLS system will have a web-based data entry interface,
supported by a core services component that comprises of
interconnected databases so varies business applications can
be plugged into the core services and use the data contained
within. This will speed up the data collection process and
will minimize the data duplication. Therefore it will improve
the data accuracy and timeliness of reports produced by the
system.
This project comprises of the following development stages:
- Analysis
Requirements are documented using use case models and the
most important use cases are describes with the use case
specifications.
Logical data flow of important processes are modelled
with Data Flow Diagrams.
- Design
We designed the classes that required supporting the system.
The design of the system is divided into major parts including
PLS Data Entry Application
PLS Administration Application
Membership Administration Application
Reporting
System Security
Important forms are designed to show their layouts.
They will be refined and redesigned if required.
Implementation
The system will be developed within the Eclipse
integrate development environment using tools J2EE
Enterprise Java Bean technology.
Test plan and testing strategy are produced to ensure
it matches the requirements and that it works efficiently.
We are following Clearfield’s standard practice for
documentation control and will use CVS for source code
control.
