Project About

We are currently working on CME (Continuing Medical Education) and CNME (Continuing Nursing and Midwifery Education) Databases. These databases are used to capture information with respect to study allowance and study leave for Medical and Nursing staff. Each Doctor and Nurse receives a certain number of study days and a certain amount of funds to ensure they can attend sufficient training to maintain their professional knowledge and skills to the required levels.

Currently there are 4 (very similar) MS Access databases used, one for each of the 4 hospitals (Auckland, Starship, Greenlane, and National Women’s Hospital), to track the balance of days and funds a particular employee still has available.

Our project is to redevelop these databases into more centralised database, and address all the limitations the current system has. On top of that we also develop a web based application system for the staff.

We call our project, Unified Continuing Medical Education (UCME). Not a fancy name, but the name explain itself.
