PAST CONFERENCES

The First International Conference on UNCONVENTIONAL MODELS OF COMPUTATION , organised by the CDMTCS and the Santa Fe Institute, USA was held in Auckland, on 5-9 January 1998.

The Second International Conference on UNCONVENTIONAL MODELS OF COMPUTATION, organised by the CDMTCS and the Solvay Institutes was held in Brussels, Belgium, on December 13-16, 2000.

The Third International Conference on UNCONVENTIONAL MODELS OF COMPUTATION, organised by the CDMTCS and the Kansai Advanced Research Center of the CRL, Kansai, Japan was held in Kobe, Japan on October 15-19, 2002.

The Fourth International Conference on UNCONVENTIONAL COMPUTATION, organised by the CDMTCS and the University of Sevilla was held in Sevilla, Spain on 3-7 October 2005.

The Fifth International Conference on UNCONVENTIONAL COMPUTATION, organised by the CDMTCS and the University of York was held in York, UK on 4-8 September 2006.

The Sixth International Conference on UNCONVENTIONAL COMPUTATION, organised by the CDMTCS and the Queens University was held in Kingston, Canada on 13-17 August 2007.

The Seventh International Conference on UNCONVENTIONAL COMPUTATION, organised by the CDMTCS and the Vienna Technical University was held in Vienna, Austria on 25-29 August 2008.

The Eighth International Conference on UNCONVENTIONAL COMPUTATION, organised by the CDMTCS and the University of Azores was held in Ponta Delgada on 7-11 September 2009.

The Ninth International Conference on UNCONVENTIONAL COMPUTATION, organised by the CDMTCS and the University of Tokyo was held in Tokyo on 21-25 June 2010.

The Tenth International Conference on UNCONVENTIONAL COMPUTATION, organised by the CDMTCS and the University of Turku was held in Turku on 6-10 June 2011.

The Eleventh International Conference on UNCONVENTIONAL COMPUTATION AND NATURAL COMPUTATION, organised by the CDMTCS and the University of Orleans was held in Orleans on 3-7 September 2012.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE SERIES: UNCONVENTIONAL COMPUTATION AND NATURAL COMPUTATION (UCNC)

SCOPE

The series of International Conferences UNCONVENTIONAL COMPUTATION AND NATURAL COMPUTATION (UCNC) is genuinely interdisciplinary and it covers theory as well as experiments and applications. It is concerned with various proposals for computation that go beyond the Turing model, human designed computation inspired by nature, and with the computational nature of processes taking place in nature. Typical, but not exclusive, topics are: hypercomputation; chaos and dynamical systems based computing; granular, fuzzy and rough computing; mechanical computing; cellular, evolutionary, molecular, neural, and quantum computing; membrane computing; amorphous computing, swarm intelligence; artificial immune systems; physics of computation; chemical computation; evolving hardware; the computational nature of self-assembly, developmental processes, bacterial communication, and brain processes.

HISTORY

The first venue of the Unconventional Computation Conference (formerly called Unconventional Models of Computation and Unconventional Computation) was Auckland, New Zealand in 1998; subsequent sites of the conference were Brussels, Belgium in 2000, Kobe, Japan in 2002, Seville, Spain in 2005, York, UK, in 2006, Kingston, Canada in 2007, Vienna, Austria, in 2008, Ponta Delgada, Portugal in 2009, Tokyo, Japan in 2010, Turku, Finland, 2011, Orleans, France in 2012.
