Intro

Welcome all readers. I am Tobi Vaudrey, a real Kiwi (New Zealander) working in the field of Computer Vision, focusing in Driver Assistance Systems. My background is actually in Engineering. I graduated from The University of Auckland in 2005 with a BE (1st Class Hons.) in Engineering Science. Since then I have done work as both a technical consultant and business analyst. Now I am progressing my way through a PhD.
I am about half way through (planning to finish early 2010), and progressing along well. I have done industrial research at Daimler AG (Mercedes Benz) and been travelling around the world having a good time while I was there (see my blog for more info.) My current focus is the .enpeda.. (Environment Perception and Driver Assistance) project. In this project we are creating new ideas for driver assistance systems with our very own research vehicle, HAKA1 .

Award: From this publication I received 2nd place in the BuildIT Publicity Award 2008.

In August 2009, I received the MacDiarmid Young Scientist of the Year Runnerup (Future Science and Technology category). I appeared on the 2nd page of the New Zealand Hearald. This competition is about communicating your research to a wide audience. Here is my winning material: video, poster and essay , which explain my research at a "High School" level.
