Useability of Web based code repositories

Abstract
This report examines the usability of existing web based code repositories. I first define what a repository is for, and then discuss the support that must be provided to different types of repository users. I identify a number of web based repositories, evaluate their usability using the cognitive walkthrough technique, and present the results of these evaluations. I then suggest that usability can improved through better interface design, automatic categorization, and automatic asset submission. Finally, I present my conclusions.
