mailing list

ai-cbr runs an electronic mailing list for the case-based reasoning community world-wide. If you join our mail list you will have instant access to hundreds of CBR researchers and developers world-wide. People use the mail list to announce details of conferences and workshops, ask for help, disseminate their research, and keep in touch with what's happening in CBR on a daily basis.

joining the list

Case-Based Reasoning Communications

Joining the mail list is free and open to anyone. You must register with the mail list before you can use it and you must (obviously) have an email address. Registering is easy just send a mail to the mailing list address:

members at ai-cbr dot org
this address is deliberately incorrect to confuse automatic SPAMers
simply replace "at" with "@" and "dot" with "." and remove the blank spaces

with the subject "subscribe".

Note: Because of the prevalence of spamming Hotmail and Yahoo email addresses are NOT supported.

using the list

The mailing list is now moderated. Any email sent to the mail list is checked for relevancy. Only mail likely to be of interest to CBR people will be forwarded to all the registered members. To send an email to the mail list address your message to:

members at ai-cbr dot org
this address is deliberately incorrect to confuse automatic SPAMers
simply replace "at" with "@" and "dot" with "." and remove the blank spaces

my email has changed!

If your email address changes you must change your registration with the mail list  to continue to receive messages from the list. To change your registration follow these steps:

  1. Remove your old email address from the members list by unsubscribing (see below).
  2. Subscribe to the list using your new email address (see above).

how do I leave the list?

If you want to stop receiving messages from the mail list, perhaps because you are going away on holiday, then remove your email address from the members list by sending the message "unsubscribe" to the list.

etiquette

Please observe the following guidelines when using the mail list:

  • Only send messages to the list that you think will be of interest to other members.
  • When you reply to a message only send your reply to the list if you think your answer will be of interest to everyone - otherwise reply directly to the originator of the message.
  • Be specific - general requests like "I have an assignment to do on CBR and I was wondering if anyone could help" are ignored because the message really says "I'm too lazy to do any work myself, but..."
  • Please no messages with a political, religious, sexual or ethnic bias.
  • NO SPAM - if you send advertising for non-CBR related products of services to the list you'll be removed from the list and we'll do our best to make your life hell.

other mailing lists

  • The European CBR-Newsletter a regular email newsletter, not just limiting itself to European CBR
  • CBR-MED a mailing list concerned with medical applications of CBR (we believe this list is now closed April 2000)
  • MLNET is planning to start an ML discussion forum
  • MLNET also maintains a list of AI & ML mailing lists

members of the list

The list of people currently registered as ai-cbr members has been removed to protect members against SPAM. There are currently 728 registered members (as of July 2002).
