ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Theoretical aspects of artificial intelligence; formal concepts of artificial intelligence; efficient algorithms for solving complex AI problems like scheduling, planning, constraint satisfaction, etc.

There are various areas of interest in artificial intelligence research at the Computer Science Department of the University of Auckland, two of which are constraint satisfaction and spatio-temporal reasoning. In particular, we are interested in various techniques for constraint satisfaction (such as filtering approaches, heuristic backtracking algorithms, fuzzy constraint satisfaction, and genetic algorithms) and their applications to models of space and time.
