Computer Science alumnus, Nathan Holmberg, along with wife Alyona Medelyan, have been accepted into one of the world’s most exclusive start-ups, Y Combinator.

The couple are co-founders of Thematic, a business that specialises in analysis of "free text" responses to targeted questions (which are the hardest to analyse).

This is not the first success for Nathan, who received the Department of Computer Science’s Annual Prize in 2004 for the best year's work at any level, and completed his Master of Science in Computer Graphics in 2006.

Nathan went on to work for Serato Audio Research, initially leading the development of the video mixing from 2006-2011, before moving on to lead the development of all product lines from 2013-2016.

In 2010, whilst Chief Architect for Serato, Nathan led a team that created an award-winning video mixing and effects solution that is used worldwide in shows and performances.
