Tuākana app developed in the Department of Computer Science launched

08 March 2017

The Tuākana Science app has been launched. It is part of the Faculty of Science’s initiative to give Māori and Pacific students easier access all the information they need to participate in the Tuākana programme. The Research Programmers team in the Department of Computer Science created the app in a project proposed by David Welch, Ulrich Speidel and Michael Steedman (Faculty of Science Kaiārahi).

It is a hybrid mobile app that can receive updated content. Like websites on the internet, hybrid mobile apps are built with a combination of web technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

The current features of the app include mentor and tutor directory, tutorial and department information, news and events, easy access to social media links and directories. Other useful features will be added to the app in future updates.

The app is available for download from the Apple Store and Google Play Store.
