BTech 451 Project Yijing Wei
Since Xinfeng is back from holiday, I had a meeting with him this morning and reported my current progress and concerns to him. I also had him look at the slides of my mid-year seminar which I am going to present tomorrow. He gave me some suggestions as to how to make my presentation more understandable to people who have never seen or used Distributed Service Profiler and I adjusted some of my slides according to his advice.
I gave my mid-year seminar to all the academic supervisors and other BTech students today. It is interesting to see how other students present their projects and what they have done so far for their projects.
Mid-year report is due today, so I have been working it these days. I have also uploaded my slides of my mid-yera seminar. Both the seminar and the report are available on my BTech 451 web page now.
After a long break due to exams and me being out of country, I’m back on track of my project. Unfortunately, Ana’s away for about six weeks, so I have decided to focus more on the academic part of the project these days. Xinfeng also suggested that I should read more academic papers on monitoring distributed systems to help me understand my project more and also to broaden my knowledge.
I’ve been reading Monitoring Distributed Systems by Joyce, Jeffrey; Lomow, Greg; Slind, Konrad; Unger, Brian Jones. It is a 30-page paper, so it might take me some time to finish reading. I have also decided to highlight some key points and take some notes while reading it to help me get deeper understanding.
