The conccept behind this project is to create a system which enables a customer to have a virtual presence, with an asset of value. This system should be able to monitor the asset and generate warnings as well as give the customer the ability to control these assets remotely, using an easy to use, always-available and multi-purpose piece of equipment.
For this project, we would limit the scope of this idea up to Windows based servers which runs a .NET supported service such as IIS or ADS, etc. A service is the most valuable resource for any service oriented organization. When the server is running, the cost of running the services on the server is more than the hardware components of the server. It is more important that the server continually provide the services it is supposed to serve. On the other hand, the hardware component of a server is much cheaper compared to the importance of running the service it is supposed to run. But, when there is a problem with a server (the hardware component), the service would no longer be available. Also, if some other server, that this server depends on, is facing some issues and cannot provide the service that this server depends on, the service running on the customer’s server needs to be stopped.
Our aim here is to develop a system which will allow a server administrator to control the basic operations of the server remotely using a device such as a mobile phone.
