Photogrammetry Laboratory

Photogrammetry Laboratory

Tamaki Campus, The University of Auckland

The Photogrammetry Laboratory studies both theoretical (development of new matching algorithms) and practical (development of techniques for fast acquisition of high resolution images which lead to accurate 3D environment maps) aspects of photogrammetry. We have co-located equipment for a variety of techniques (structured lighting, binocular and photometric stereo, range finding, etc) to enable us to carry out objective comparisons of these techniques and to develop new techniques - in particular hybrid techniques which leverage the strengths of individual techniques.

Real-time High Resolution Stereo
Using two cameras directly connected to an FPGA implementing Gimelfarb's Symmetric Dynamic Programming Stereo (SDPS) correspondence algorithm, we are able to obtain high resolution disparity maps (1024x768) in real time (30 fps).
