COMPSCI 215 Semester 1, City Campus
COMPSCI 101 and 105. Students are strongly encouraged to enrol in COMPSCI 210 before or concurrently with COMPSCI 215.
Description
Part 1: Interacting with the operating system via a command line interface. Socket programming.
Part 2: Hardware support necessary to implement a secure multi-user operating system: user/kernel mode, exceptions and interrupts, virtual memory, context switching, synchronisation, interrupt driven input/output.
Part 3: An introduction to data communications.
In order to pass the paper, you must:
- Pass the assignment work
- Pass test and exam combined.
- The pass marks in each part and in total are not going to exceed 50%. If you have not achieved 50% in the assignments you are still advised to sit the exam.
Final Exam 60%; Test 20%; Assignments (3) 20%
The course work consists of two parts: practical work and theory work.
The test will be administered in-class on Friday,
